Powerful Waterfalls, Muddy Trails, and an Unforgettable Experience
I visited this trail on a rainy day, and it turned out to be one of the most intense and memorable hikes I’ve done in Washington.
Right from the start, you need to be prepared — the trail gets very muddy, your shoes will get wet, and the conditions can be rough. But honestly, that’s part of what makes the experience so real.
The hike takes you through a forest with multiple creek crossings, and as you get closer, you start hearing the sound of the waterfalls getting louder and louder. That’s when you realize something powerful is ahead.
When I reached the first waterfall, I was already impressed. But the upper waterfalls were on a completely different level — the amount of water, the force, and the mist in the air were incredible. Standing close to the falls, you get completely soaked in seconds. It’s not just a view — it’s something you physically feel.
I even tried getting closer and stepping onto a rock near the falls — and instantly got drenched. My jacket, pants, everything was wet. But it was 100% worth it.
I was hiking with my dog, and even she felt the intensity of the place — the noise, the movement, everything made her cautious, which honestly added to the atmosphere.
One thing to keep in mind — parts of the trail can be confusing, with multiple paths and not always clear signs, so you need to pay attention. Also, some areas near the waterfalls are dangerous, especially if you get too close.
Overall, this hike is not about staying clean or comfortable. It’s about experiencing something raw and powerful. If you go in the right conditions, especially after rain, the waterfalls are absolutely worth it.
You might not want to go at first — but if you push yourself and do it, you’ll come back with an experience you won’t forget.
