Mount Pilchuck Lookout — Incredible Views Above the Clouds!
Hiked on November 1, 2026
Honestly, I had no idea this hike would be so amazing!
The weather was cloudy when I started driving, but as I made my way up to the trailhead, the clouds began to clear and the sun came out. Even near the beginning of the trail, where there are picnic areas, I could already see the clouds below and the snow-covered peak ahead. The views were absolutely incredible!
About a mile into the hike, I started encountering snow. It was beautiful, but some sections were really slippery. I highly recommend bringing microspikes and trekking poles, especially this time of year. I saw people struggling in regular sneakers.
The views from the summit were absolutely breathtaking! Mountains stretching into the distance, clouds below, and an unforgettable sunset.
At the top, there’s an old fire lookout that feels like a little museum inside. The windows were closed, but a small entrance was open, so I was able to take a look around.
I’m definitely coming back! Next time, I’d love to be better prepared, bring a sleeping bag, and hopefully spend the night up there to catch the sunrise, if overnight stays are permitted.
Highly recommend this hike! It’s not the easiest trail, especially with snow, but the experience is absolutely worth it. One of those places you visit once and immediately want to return to!
