Mount Si Trail
Mount Si is one of the most popular hikes in the Snoqualmie region, offering a challenging ascent with rewarding views. The trail is well-maintained and heavily trafficked, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. As you ascend, you'll traverse through lush forests, with towering Douglas firs and western hemlocks providing a canopy overhead. The trail is steep and rocky in sections, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
Highlights
- Scenic Views: At the summit, hikers are greeted with panoramic views of the Snoqualmie Valley and the Cascade Range. On clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of Mount Rainier in the distance.
- Wildlife: Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including deer, birds, and occasionally, black bears. It's always a good idea to hike in groups and make noise to avoid surprising any animals.

One of the best hikes near Seattle
Mount Si is one of those hikes that really makes you feel like you earned the view. The trail is challenging, especially the elevation gain near the top, but the scenery changes constantly so it never feels boring.
I started seeing more and more mountain views as I climbed, and by the time I reached the upper section it felt completely different from being down in the city. The final part is steep, but standing above the clouds and seeing the valleys around you makes it worth it.
I also liked how many friendly people I met on the trail. It’s one of those places where hikers actually smile, talk, and encourage each other on the way up.
Tips
- Bring enough water
- Start earlier if you want parking
- Hiking poles help on the descent
- Don’t underestimate the elevation gain even if the distance seems manageable
Definitely a must-do Washington hike if you enjoy mountain views and a good workout.
