Hiking Snoqualmie / I-90 Hard

Mount Teneriffe

A demanding forest climb to a rocky summit with expansive views across the Snoqualmie Valley and central Cascades.

Overview

Mount Teneriffe is a strenuous climb in the Mount Si Natural Resources Conservation Area near North Bend. The standard trail makes a long, sustained ascent through forest before reaching the mountain’s rocky 4,788-foot summit, where clear conditions reveal sweeping views of the Snoqualmie Valley, Mount Si, Green Mountain, and the central Cascades.

Route

From the Mount Teneriffe Trailhead, follow the signed trail through low-elevation forest and continue onto the broad, steadily climbing route toward Teneriffe. The upper trail becomes steeper and rougher as it approaches the summit ridge. A side trip to Teneriffe Falls adds distance and elevation and is not included in the stated mileage.

Conditions and preparation

Expect approximately 13 miles round trip and 3,800 feet of elevation gain, making this an all-day objective for many hikers. Carry ample water, navigation tools, food, and layers; snow, ice, and avalanche hazards can persist on the upper mountain outside the main hiking season. A Discover Pass is generally required for parking at this Washington Department of Natural Resources trailhead.
