Evergreen Mountain Lookout

Evergreen Mountain is a short but steep hike in the Central Cascades, climbing through subalpine forest and open slopes to a historic fire lookout at approximately 5,587 feet. From the summit, hikers can enjoy broad views across the surrounding Skykomish River country and toward the rugged peaks of the Glacier Peak Wilderness.

Trail experience

The trail gains elevation steadily from the first half-mile, with few level sections. Forest eventually gives way to brushy meadows and an exposed summit ridge where lingering snow, loose footing, and changing weather can add difficulty.

Planning notes

The route is generally most accessible from midsummer through early fall, after snow has melted from the upper trail and access roads. Carry water, sun protection, and extra layers; verify road, fire, and lookout-access conditions with the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest before traveling.
